(Update) Structure Fire in Halifax - Bedford Highway

At 5:55 AM, multiple 911 calls were received reporting a building on fire on the Bedford Highway with people still inside.

#hfxfirefighters from Station 7 (Clayton Park) and Station 5 (West End) arrived within 6 minutes to find heavy fire on the front and side of the building.

Crews made an aggressive fire attack, preventing the fire from extending past the roof, while other members searched interior apartments and confirmed all residents were out and safe.

Thanks to a rapid response, the fire was contained to one side of the building, minimizing damage and preventing further impact to second-floor apartments.

- Advisory via HRP Halifax Regional Police are on scene assisting HFRE with a structure fire in the 200 block of Bedford Highway. Bedford Highway is closed in both directions as well as access to Bedford Highway from Flamingo Dr. Motorists and pedestrians are asked to stay away from the area while emergency services deal with this situation. . . - -
