Two men arrested following altercation in Lower Sackville

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has arrested two men following an altercation in the parking lot of a business in Lower Sackville.

On October 31, at approximately 6:50 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a disturbance in the parking lot of a gas station in the 200 block of Cobequid Rd. Officers learned that a Mazda3 had struck a gas pump and several parked vehicles before leaving the area.

A short time later, officers located the damaged Mazda3 on Dickey Dr. The driver told investigators that he had been sitting in his parked vehicle at the gas station when a man known to him exited another vehicle and assaulted him.

The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS.  A passenger in the vehicle was not injured.

Investigators determined that after the assault, the driver used the Mazda3 to ram the other man’s vehicle before leaving the scene.  In the process, the Mazda struck a gas pump and several parked vehicles.

The 25-year-old Mount Uniacke driver was arrested for assault with a weapon and dangerous operation of a vehicle.  He was later released on conditions.

The other man, a 22-year-old from Gays River, was arrested for assault and was later released on conditions.

Both men are scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
