**** Update via RCMPUPDATE: RCMP officers, including the Emergency Response Team, have taken the man into custody safely. Neighbours are no longer being asked to remain inside their homes and the emergency alert has been cancelled. Waverley Rd. is open to all traffic. Officers will remain in the area, continuing with the investigation. Neighbours would have heard loud noises during the police operation; we can confirm that no shots were fired.

We are asking people to avoid the area to allow police to do their work. Officers have spoken directly with impacted residents near the location. The following alert will be issued imminently. -Dangerous person with firearm inside a home.Waverly Road, 2000 block, Waverley, Nova Scotia. RCMPNS responding.Residents in the area: Seek immediate SHELTER or STAY INSIDE and close and lock doors and windows. Do not leave a secure location.
