Southwest Nova RCMP charge two for multiple firearms and drug trafficking offences, seize cocaine, firearms and cash
The Southwest Nova RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has charged a man and a woman for multiple firearms and drug trafficking offences after executing a search warrant in Shelburne.
On September 25, the Southwest Nova RCMP SCEU, with assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a home on Bulkley St. as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
Officers safely arrested a man and a woman and seized a loaded handgun, a sawed-off shotgun, a rifle, ammunition and several other weapons. They also seized cocaine, unstamped tobacco, cash, mobile devices and drug paraphernalia.
Gregory Lee Perry, 32, of Shelburne, has been charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Careless Use of Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, and Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (four counts each)
- Possess Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Order (three counts)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, and Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Contrary to Order, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts each)
- Possess Firearm with a Tampered Serial Number
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (Over $5000)
Perry is also facing charges under the Revenue Act and Excise Act for possessing the unstamped tobacco. He appeared in Yarmouth Provincial Court on September 29 and was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 6.
The woman was released on an Undertaking to appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on November 13. She will face multiple firearms, weapon, and drug trafficking charges.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Southwest Nova RCMP SCEU with assistance of Shelburne County District RCMP, Yarmouth Town RCMP General Investigation Section, Yarmouth Town RCMP Detachment, and the Criminal Intelligence Service Nova Scotia.

-RCMP and partner agencies recover stolen boat, one man charged
Collaboration between RCMP units and partner agencies has led to charges against one man and the recovery of a stolen boat.
On September 23, Richmond County District RCMP responded to a report of a boat stolen from a marina in D’Escousse. Surveillance video showed a man boarding the white cabin cruiser and departing from the marina that day at approximately noon. Officers located the vehicle the man drove to the marina, a grey Ford F150 with Ontario plates, and found that it had been reported stolen from Alberta in July.
On September 28, Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) fishery officers on an aerial surveillance patrol spotted the boat near St. Pierre and Miquelon. It appeared to be adrift and unoccupied and DFO fishery officers were unable to make contact with anyone on the boat.
DFO, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG), and the RCMP, including officers from the Quebec RCMP Marine Security Enforcement Teams (MSET), established a plan to determine if anyone was on board and if there was a need for medical assistance. Further investigation related to the theft of the vessel and possible safety risks were also under consideration.
On September 30, CCG and MSET officers on a CCG vessel reached the boat, located east of Sable Island. When officers boarded, they found and arrested the man on board, who was observed to be the same man from marina surveillance video. He was assessed for any medical concerns and transported to shore by RCMP and CCG.
Mohammad Saleh, 31, of Toronto, had a first court appearance at Wagmatcook Provincial Court on October 1. He is charged with Theft and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (two counts).
“The collaboration from partner agencies was an important part of locating and recovering this vessel,” says Sgt. Brad Kelly, District Commander, Richmond County District RCMP. “The skills and tools that officers at DFO, the Coast Guard, JRCC, and MSET brought to the investigation resulted in a safe outcome for everyone involved.”
The boat and the truck were both seized and further investigation is ongoing with support from Nova Scotia RCMP Forensic Identification Services, and police in Alberta and British Columbia.
