In accordance with the Nova Scotia Release of High-Risk Offender Information Protocol, the Truro Police Service is advising citizens, that a high-risk offender is residing in the community.
George Durling, 57, is a federal offender and has been released after serving a two-year sentence for convictions of:
โข Distribution of Child Pornography
โข Print/Publish Child Pornography (x3)
โข Failure to Comply with Probation Order (x2)
โข Harassing Communication and Indecent Communication
Durling was known to text and call random phone numbers with sexually explicit content. These offences occurred in both Truro and Maitland Nova Scotia. Durling has previously been sentenced to:
โข Three years of probation related to a sexual assault in Manitoba (1992)
โข Eighteen months of probation for an assault in Truro (2019)
โข One year of probation for an indecent act in Truro (2022)
Durlingโs conditions limit him from being around children under 16 years of age. He must not attend a public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present, or a daycare centre, schoolground, playground or community centre. He cannot seek, obtain or continue any employment, whether or not the employment is remunerated, or become or be a volunteer in a capacity, that involves being in a position of trust or authority towards persons under the age of 16 years and he cannot have any contact โ including communicating by any means โ with a person who is under the age of 16 years, unless the offender does so under the supervision of a person whom the court considers appropriate.
The Truro Police Service will be conducting regular compliance checks on Mr. Durling.
