**** RCMP Media Release This morning, at approximately 11 :45 a.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment and EHS responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at a home on Churchill Terrace in North Preston. RCMP officers learned that two men known to one another were involved in an altercation when one man stabbed the other. The victim was transported to hospital by EHS. Officers safely arrested the other man at the scene. RCMP officers remain on scene to gather information and evidence. Please avoid the area. The investigation is ongoing. -

Inverness County District RCMP charge man after stabbing in Whycocomagh

Inverness County District RCMP has charged a man with multiple offences after investigating an aggravated assault in Whycocomagh.

On July 7, at approximately 4 a.m., Inverness County District RCMP responded to a report of an assault that occurred on Dianne’s Ln. RCMP officers learned that two men were involved in an altercation when one man assaulted the other with a knife.

The 30-year-old victim, who’s known to the suspect, suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS.

On July 8, RCMP officers arrested 29-year-old Hobie Dwayne Dennis of Waycobah. He’s been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault (two counts)
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Break and Enter with Intent
  • Uttering Threats
  • Mischief

Dennis was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on July 9.

The investigation is ongoing.
