Thankfully, the damage is minimal. Thanks to the people who called the fire department. Thank you to our volunteer firefighters and local RCMP who were quick to respond.
The boxes had just been watered this afternoon, but peat moss, which is mixed with soil, can smoulder for hours before it lights.
With gratitude,

PLEASE DO NOT butt out cigarettes or cigars in plant pots or window boxes
We just had a close call at the museum. It looks like a cigar was ‘put out’ in a window box at the back of the building, which then caught fire.
Thankfully, the damage is minimal. Thanks to the people who called the fire department. Thank you to our volunteer firefighters and local RCMP who were quick to respond.
