Partial Re-entry and Evacuation Centre
Based on a recommendation from DNR, residents from Ostrea Lake Road from Civic #320 northwards up to Highway 7, Birchwood Lane, Lailia Lane and Sunset Lane can return to their homes starting at 8 p.m.
An evacuation order remains in place until further notice for Ostrea Lake Road from Civic #320 to the south as far as Civic #655, Reflection Lane and Heselton Drive. The Eastern Shore Community Centre at 67 Park Road, Musquodoboit Harbour will be open as an evacuation centre starting at 10 p.m. with registration beginning at 8 p.m.

Partial re-entry to the area and evacuation centre opened in support of those impacted by the Ostrea Lake fire
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that based on a recommendation from the Province of Nova Scotia’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR), residents from the following areas can return to their homes starting at 8 p.m.:
Ostrea Lake Road, from Civic # 320, northwards, up to Highway 7
Birchwood Lane
Lailia Lane
Sunset Lane
Please note that a map will be posted on halifax.ca as soon as possible.
The evacuation order remains in place until further notice for all other areas:
Ostrea Lake Road, from Civic # 320 to the south, as far as Civic # 655 (which is the next nearest property to Civic # 607)
Reflection Lane
Heselton Drive
The RCMP has reopened Highway 7 to traffic and advised that officers will remain in the area, in the event a road closure is required due to changing conditions.
An evacuation centre will be opened at the Eastern Shore Community Centre, 67 Park Road, Musquodoboit Harbour to assist any residents impacted by the fire. This is the same location at which the comfort centre was opened earlier today. In-person registration will begin at 8 p.m. and the evacuation centre will be open starting at 10 p.m.
Fire crews from DNR and Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency (HRFE) will continue to fight the fire until dark. HRFE firefighters and the RCMP will remain in the area overnight to monitor the situation.
Residents who are close to the fire are advised to close all windows and doors, shut down air exchangers and stay inside until air quality conditions improve.
An evacuation centre is a type of emergency facility which is open when residents have to be evacuated from their homes due to a specific emergency event and where evacuees are received, needs are identified, and food, water and overnight accommodations are provided.
