Colchester County District RCMP investigates fatal residential fire
Colchester County District RCMP is investigating a fatal house fire that occurred in Alton.
On June 16, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Colchester County District RCMP, fire services and EHS responded to a structure fire on Alton Rd. near the 4000 block. When RCMP officers arrived at the scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames.
Once the fire was extinguished, human remains were located inside the home.
At this time, from the information and evidence gathered, the fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being assisted by the Nova Scotia Fire Marshal's Office and the Medical Examiner Service.

RCMP investigating fatal fire in West Head
Shelburne RCMP Detachment, supported by Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service, is investigating a fatal house fire that occurred in West Head.
On June 15, at approximately 1:35 a.m., RCMP officers and fire services responded to a report of an active structure fire on West Head Rd. Upon arrival at the scene, first responders found a residence fully engulfed in flames.
The lone occupant of the home, a 74-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A dog that lived with the man was also found deceased inside the home.
At this time, the investigation indicates that the cause of the fire is not suspicious. The investigation, however, is ongoing.
