Police lay firearm charges

Halifax Regional Police has laid firearm charges in relation to an incident in Halifax on the weekend.

On September 3 at approximately 1:10 a.m. officers observed a disturbance between two groups of people in the area of the 1600 block of Brunswick Street in Halifax. A man in one of the groups was believed to be in possession of a firearm. The man was located at a vehicle that was parked nearby. Officers arrested the man and another man who was in the vehicle and seized a loaded firearm from the vehicle.

Mohamed Houssen Milad, 22, and Abdullahi Abdi Rizak Ali, 25, are both scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm in a vehicle
  • Careless use of a firearm
