Death ruled a homicide.​ Victim has been identified

Police are providing an update on the investigation into the death of a man that occurred yesterday in the area of Viscaya Place in Dartmouth and are releasing the victim’s name. ​ On June 11th, 2022​ ​ at approximately​ 02:08 a.m.​ Halifax Regional Police​ responded to a complaint at a residence on Viscaya Place in Dartmouth.​ ​ When officers arrived they located an adult male deceased with injuries that were consistent with gunshot wounds. ​ The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and has ruled the manner of death to be a homicide. The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Nelson Tyrelle Beals.​ Our thoughts are with Nelson's family and loved ones during this difficult time. ​ The investigation is being led by homicide investigators from the Special Investigations Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.​ The investigation is in its preliminary stages and police are asking anyone with information about this incident or video from the area​ between 1:00​ a.m. and 2:00 a.m.​ to call police at​ 902-490-5020.​ Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free​ 1-800-222-TIPS(8477), submitting a secure web tip at​ www.crimestoppers.ns.ca​ or using the P3 Tips App.
