Police lay firearm charges
Police have a charged a man and a woman with firearm offences following a search in Halifax yesterday.
On September 10 at approximately 10 a.m., investigators with the Gun and Drug Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, along with members of the Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on Adams Avenue in Halifax in relation to a firearms investigation. Officers arrested two occupants without incident and seized a loaded firearm and ammunition.
Daniel Ryan, 33, appeared in Halifax provincial court yesterday to face charges of:
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possess firearm-no license/certificate
- Possess loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition obtained by crime
- Store firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
- Possess weapon dangerous to public peace
- Possess firearm contrary to order/fail to surrender (x2)
- Breach of probation order
Nareea Cain, 29, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of:
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possess firearm-no license/certificate
- Possess loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition obtained by crime
- Store firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
- Possess weapon dangerous to public peace
