Police lay firearm charges
Police have a charged a man with firearm offences following a search in Dartmouth earlier this morning.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., police executed a search warrant at a residence on Courtney Road in Dartmouth in relation to a firearm investigation. Officers arrested three occupants and seized a loaded firearm, ammunition, a replica BB handgun and stolen property. A man and woman were later released without charges.
Michael Saulnier, 34, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
- Unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possess weapon dangerous to public peace
- Store firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
- Possess prohibited/restricted weapon/ammunition-no license
- Possess loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possess firearm in vehicle
- Possess firearm contrary to order/fail to surrender (x2)
- Possess firearm/prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00 (x2)
- Carrying concealed weapon
