Police lay robbery charges
On August 15, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons complaint at the Halifax Shopping Centre.
Staff of the store Zumiez reported that a youth had stolen $400 worth of product and had sprayed a sensory irritant at several security guards.
The 14-year-old youth was held to appear in Halifax Provincial Court to face the following charges:
- Assault with a weapon x5
- Robbery
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Disguise with intent
- Uttering threats

Police lay charges in a motor vehicle collision
On August 17, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Halifax Regional Police, Emergency Health Services and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency responded to a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Larry Uteck Boulevard, near Amesbury Gate.
When officers arrived, they located one vehicle on fire in the woods and a second vehicle still on the road. Both vehicles had significant front-end damage.
One person was transported to the hospital by Emergency Health Services with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 17-year-old youth is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face the charge of:

Police charge man with weapons offences
On August 15, at approximately 10:05 a.m., officers received multiple reports of a man threatening people with a hammer in the trail system at Long Lake Provincial Park in Spryfield.
Police located the man on scene and arrested him without incident.
Christopher Mitchel, 34, will appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face the following charges:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Mischief
- Fail to comply with a Release Order x2
