Police charge man in the homicide of Jayden Tynes
The RCMP/HRP Integrated Major Crime Unit has charged a man in connection with the homicide of Jayden Anthony Tynes.
On November 2, 2025, at approximately 5 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment and EHS responded to a report of shots fired near the intersection of Cain St. and Clarence St. in North Preston.
Upon arrival, officers found 28-year-old Jayden Tynes suffering from gunshot wounds. He later succumbed to his injuries.
On July 22, investigators with the RCMP/HRP Integrated Major Crime Unit arrested 29-year-old Daqronn Lamar Beals of Cole Harbour. He’s been charged with First Degree Murder.
Beals was remanded into custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.
“This arrest marks a significant step in our investigation and we hope it brings some measure of comfort to Jayden’s family, who have endured an unimaginable loss,” says Sgt. Shawn Stanton, RCMP/HRP Integrated Homicide Unit. “While charges have now been laid, the investigation remains ongoing, and we continue to seek details from anyone who may have knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Jayden’s homicide.”

Jayden Tynes’ case is included in the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Reward for Major Unsolved Crimes Program. A reward of up to $150,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the homicide of Jayden Tynes.
-East Hants RCMP arrest man and woman following traffic stop; seize cocaine
The East Hants RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has arrested two people in relation to a drug trafficking investigation following a traffic stop in Mill Village.
In March, the East Hants RCMP SCEU began an investigation into drug trafficking in the community of Sipekne’katik.
As part of the investigation, on July 21, at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep Cherokee on Mill Village Rd. in Shubenacadie. The vehicle initially stopped; however, after the officer advised the occupants of the reason for the stop, it drove away. Officers followed the Cherokee and conducted a second traffic stop in the 3100 block of Indian Rd. in Mill Village.
The driver and passenger were arrested. Officers seized a quantity of crack cocaine, cash, two cell phones and the Cherokee. Officers also searched a home and vehicle in the 500 block of Church St., Sipekne’katik; no additional evidence was seized.
The driver, a 38-year-old man from Sipekne’katik, was released on conditions pending a future court appearance.
The passenger, Ashley Rose Kent, 35, of Sipekne’katik, appeared in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on July 22 and has been charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (crack cocaine)
- Resist Arrest
- Assault a Peace Officer (three counts)
Kent was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on September 14.
