RCMP arrest two men after shots fired at home
Lunenburg District RCMP has arrested two men after shots were fired at a residence in Nineveh.
On July 12, at approximately 11:50 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a report that several shots had been fired into a home on Hwy. 208.
No one was injured.
As part of the investigation, officers identified a vehicle associated with the incident. While en route to the scene, they conducted a traffic stop and arrested the two men in the vehicle and seized a rifle.
Orland James Barrett, 68, of Hubley, has been charged with:- Uttering Threats to Cause Death
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
- Intentionally Discharging a Firearm While Being Reckless
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Commission of an Offence
Investigators also determined that Barrett was involved in a similar shooting at the same residence on June 28. In relation to that incident, he’s been charged with:
- Intentionally Discharging a Firearm While Being Reckless
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Commission of an Offence
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Barrett was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on August 19.
The second person, a 57-year-old man from Halifax, will be facing similar firearms-related charges in relation to the July 12 incident. He was released on conditions and is due in court on September 9.
The investigation, led by the Lunenburg District RCMP General Investigation Section with support from RCMP Forensic Identification Services, remains ongoing.

-Robert MacDonald wanted on province-wide arrest warrant
RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment (HRD) is seeking information on the whereabouts of Robert MacDonald, currently wanted on a province-wide arrest warrant.
MacDonald, 51, of Halifax, is facing charges of:
- Failing to Comply with an Undertaking
- Failing to Comply with a Release Order
MacDonald is described as 5-foot-7, 150 pounds. He has brown hair and a greying beard.
Police have made several attempts to locate MacDonald and are requesting assistance from the public.
