Last Friday’s equipment failure at a Halifax substation left more than 40,000 customers without power during the heat wave

Once Nova Scotia Power confirmed the equipment had been isolated and it was safe to do so, #hfxfirefighters assisted with extinguishing the fire.

A reminder: Never approach or assume a downed power line or damaged electrical equipment is safe. Always stay well back, keep others away, and call 911. Electricity can travel through the ground and equipment may remain energized even if the power appears to be out.
