RCMP charges man with Break and Enter following incidents in Mulgrave / Kings District RCMP arrests two people on outstanding warrants and new charges including assaulting police officers / Kings District RCMP investigating fatal collision

**** RCMP Release RCMP charges man with Break and Enter following incidents in Mulgrave RCMP in Inverness and Antigonish County has charged a Mulgrave man in relation to two break and enters in the community. On June 23, at approximately 7:40 p.m., Antigonish County District RCMP received a report of a break and enter in progress at a home on Old Mulgrave Rd. Officers learned the homeowner observed a man and a woman exiting the residence, which was not occupied at the time. The homeowner verbally confronted the two before they fled on foot into a wooded area. The man was wearing a jacket with “Harley Davidson” written on it and jeans. He was carrying two backpacks and another small bag. The woman was wearing a white coat, dark pants, white socks, and sandals. While on route to the home, a responding officer observed a woman matching the description. The officer detained the woman in relation to the break and enter. As the investigation progressed, the officer determined the woman was a suspect in a stolen vehicle investigation that began earlier in the day. The officer then safely arrested the woman, 36-year-old Tanya Marie Young, in relation to the earlier incident for which she has since been charged, https://rcmp.ca/en/nova-scotia/news/2026/07/4354632. Through the investigation, officers identified the man believed to be involved in the break and enter as Jadrian Shamus MacLean, 45, of Mulgrave. MacLean was also a suspect in a break and enter investigation led by Inverness County District RCMP. On June 16, Inverness County District RCMP began an investigation after receiving a report that people may be staying in a vacant home on Spring St. without knowledge of the homeowner. Through the investigation, officers seized evidence of at least one person staying in the home. On June 25, investigators charged MacLean and Young with Breaking and Entering with Intent in relation to the June 23 incident. MacLean has also been charged with Fail to Comply with Order (two counts). On July 6, investigators charged MacLean with Breaking and Entering with Intent and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime in relation to the June 16 incident. MacLean and Young have been released on conditions and are scheduled to appear in provincial court at a later date. - Kings District RCMP arrests two people on outstanding warrants and new charges including assaulting police officers Kings District RCMP has charged two people, both with outstanding arrest warrants, with additional offences after they attempted to flee from police. On July 5 at approximately 1:40 p.m., Kings District RCMP officers learned that two people who were wanted on province-wide warrants for arrest were at a residence on Buchanan Rd. in Berwick. Officers attended the property and saw the individuals in a parked car in the driveway of the home. When a police vehicle pulled in behind the car, the driver, identified as Kyle Trahan, put the car into reverse and rammed the police vehicle while an officer was inside. Trahan then attempted to drive through the yard off the property after being told he was under arrest and to exit the vehicle. He hit a fence, which stopped the car. Trahan continued to actively refuse to exit the vehicle and assaulted the police officers on scene as they attempted to remove him. Officers deployed a conducted energy weapon before Trahan was safely in custody. The passenger, identified as April Schofield, exited the car on foot and fled from police. RCMP Police Dog Services and a remotely piloted aircraft system (drone) operator attended to support the investigation. At approximately 6:50 p.m., officers located Schofield inside a residence on Buchanan Rd. She was safely arrested. Trahan, age 28, of Aylesford, is charged with 17 new offences including Assaulting a Peace Officer, Assaulting Peace Officer with Weapon, several driving offences, as well as Fail to Comply with Release Order (5 counts). He was previously wanted on warrants for Assault, Break and Enter, Theft of Mail, and Failure to Comply with Release Order. Schofield, 37, of New Minas, is charged with Resist /Obstruct Peace Officer, Mischief, Break and Enter, and Fail to Comply with Release Order (4 counts). She was previously wanted on a warrant for Break and Enter and Assault. Both Trahan and Schofield had first court appearances on July 6 at Kentville Provincial Court. They remain in custody pending future court appearances. As officers were on scene attempting to locate Schofield, the RCMP received multiple 911 calls from people seeking information about why police were in the area. Please only call 911 in emergencies. It is important to keep police phone lines open for callers who need immediate, urgent help from first responders. - Traffic Kings District RCMP investigating fatal collision Kings District RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Morristown. On July 6, at approximately 9 p.m., Kings District RCMP, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a collision in the 500 block of Prospect Rd. Officers learned that a dirt bike and a dump truck had collided. The driver and sole occupant of the dirt bike, a 30-year-old man from Aylesford, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the truck, a 29-year-old man from Morristown, and a passenger did not report any physical injuries. Prospect Rd. was closed for several hours while an RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the location of the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
