RCMP arrest wanted man following search in South Williamston
A Moncton man who was wanted on a province-wide warrant has been arrested following a search in South Williamston.
On July 3, at approximately 11:25 p.m., Annapolis District RCMP responded to a report of an unwelcome man at a residence on Hwy. 201. Prior to officers’ arrival, the man fled into a nearby wooded area.
While searching for the man, officers heard four possible gunshots coming from the woods.
No injuries were reported.
Additional resources, including RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS), Emergency Response Team (ERT), remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) operators, and Kings District RCMP members, were deployed to assist in the search.
Using RPAS technology, officers detected a heat signature in dense brush. The man was found hiding in the woods by PDS and ERT members.
The man resisted arrest and was bitten by a police service dog. He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, medically cleared, and remanded into custody.
In addition to a charge of Failing to Comply with a Release Order that he was already facing, Jeffery Allan Stoddart, 33, now faces additional charges of failing to comply with conditions and obstructing a peace officer.
He’s due in Digby Provincial Court on July 6.

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has arrested a woman for impaired driving following a single-vehicle crash in Lower Sackville.
On July 4, at approximately 5 p.m., RCMP officers, EHS and fire services responded to a report of a crash on the northbound Bedford Bypass off-ramp. Upon arrival, officers observed a Toyota Yaris off the roadway and on its roof and a woman who had already been removed from the vehicle.
Officers learned that the Yaris had been travelling from Dartmouth when it veered off the road into a ditch. Officers spoke with the driver and observed signs of impairment.
The 25-year-old woman from Lower Sackville was arrested for impaired driving. She was transported to the Lower Sackville RCMP Detachment, where she provided two breath samples of 210 mg% and 190 mg%.
She was later released and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
Impaired driving continues to be a significant factor in preventable crashes, injuries, and fatalities on Nova Scotia roads. Consuming alcohol, cannabis, or other drugs reduces judgment, reaction time, and overall driving ability. Motorists are reminded to make safe arrangements before heading out by choosing a designated driver, taking a taxi, or using a rideshare service. Suspected impaired drivers should be reported to 911.

On July 3 at approximately 2:55 p.m., police responded to a report of a theft that occurred at the Canadian Tire, located at 194 Chain Lake Drive in Halifax. Staff reported two males and a female came into the store and broke into a display case containing BB guns. The two males stole multiple BB guns and all three suspects fled on foot prior to police arrival.
On July 4 at approximately 1:30 p.m., police responded to a weapons incident at the Canadian Tire, located at 30 Lamont Terrace in Dartmouth. Staff reported two males and a female attempted to break into a display case containing BB guns but were unsuccessful. While attempting to flee, the female sprayed a staff member with a sensory irritant before exiting the store. Officers quickly located and arrested all three suspects on scene without incident. Following the incident, a K9 member located and seized the canister of sensory irritant believed to have been used in the offense.
During the investigation, officers determined the three suspects in custody were the same suspects involved in the theft that occurred on July 3 at the Chain Lake Canadian Tire.
Garik Johnny, 18, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today to face charges of
Robbery and disguise with intent.
A 16-year-old male youth is scheduled to appear in Halifax youth court today to face charges of:
- Robbery
- Disguise with intent
- Possession of break instruments
- Theft of property under $5000.00
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00
- Failure to comply with undertaking
- Breach of probation order (x2)
A 14-year-old female youth is scheduled to appear in Halifax youth court at a later date to face charges of:
- Robbery
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon/ammunition-no license
