Two Fires. Six Minutes Apart
At approximately 6:00 AM yesterday, #hfxfirefighters responded to a structure fire on Barrington Street that was quickly upgraded to a second alarm.
Our members from Station 4 (North End) arrived to find fire inside a row house. Crews assisted a resident from the affected home, rapidly deployed a hose line, and quickly contained the fire to the room of origin.
Just six minutes later, at 6:06 AM, a second encampment fire was reported under the Macdonald Bridge on Barrington Street. With multiple stations and crews already committed to the structure fire, our members from Station 15 (Woodside) in Dartmouth responded to the fire.
Emergencies don’t happen in isolation.
While fire fighters are managing one emergency, the next call for help can arrive at any moment. Yesterday morning highlighted the importance of maintaining an effective emergency response system for a rapidly growing city.
