RCMP charge man in historical sexual assault investigation
Digby RCMP Detachment has charged an Annapolis County man with multiple offences as part of an ongoing investigation into historical sexual assaults. Investigators believe there may be additional victims.
In October 2025, Digby RCMP launched an investigation after receiving a report of historical sexual assaults and physical abuse.
As the investigation continued, two additional victims were identified. Two of the three victims were youths at the time of the offences, which occurred between 1988 and 2002 in Digby and Annapolis counties. All three victims were known to the man.
On May 13, 58-year-old Aubrey Lawrence Andrews, of Waldeck, was arrested and charged with 21 offences, including Assault (three counts), Sexual Assault (six counts), and Forcible Confinement (two counts). He had a first court appearance on May 13 at Digby Provincial Court. Andrews was released on conditions and is due to reappear on June 30.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims who’ve not yet come forward.
There’s no time limit on reporting sexual offences to police. The Nova Scotia RCMP recognizes the lasting impact these crimes can have on victims, including feelings of stress, shame, and fear, regardless of how much time has passed. -RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit arrests two adults in connection with death of child
The Nova Scotia RCMP’s Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit (NEN MCU) has arrested two adults in connection with the death of a child.
On August 5, 2024, Eskasoni RCMP Detachment responded to a report of a sudden death involving a child at a home in Eskasoni. The investigation was referred to the Northeast Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit, which assumed lead.
On May 20, following a complex and lengthy investigation, the NEN MCU arrested a 37-year old woman and a 42-year-old man, both from Eskasoni. They’re facing charges in relation to failing to provide the necessities of life and criminal negligence causing death.
The man and woman were released on conditions by the court. They’re scheduled to appear in Eskasoni Provincial Court on June 30.
The investigation was supported by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service and several RCMP units, including Forensic Identification Services, Digital Forensics Services, the Legal Applications Support Team, Eskasoni RCMP, and the Eskasoni General Investigation Section.
