RCMP Southwest Traffic Services charges man for fleeing police and dangerous driving
RCMP Southwest Traffic Services has charged a man with multiple offences, including flight from police and dangerous driving.
On April 13, at approximately 2:45 p.m., a Southwest Nova Traffic Services officer observed a vehicle believed to be driven by a man who was wanted on a province-wide warrant.
The officer attempted a traffic stop on the grey Hyundai Accent near Campbell Rd. and Scott Dr. in Kentville. The driver did not stop and quickly accelerated, travelling southbound on Oakdene Ave. The officer did not pursue the Accent in consideration of public safety.
The officer located the vehicle a short time later in a parking lot on Belcher St. As the officer approached, the driver fled in the Accent turning onto Belcher St. At this time, another officer was able to see the driver and positively identify him as Nathan Malcolm Cox, 41, of Hortonville. The officers did not pursue the vehicle in the interest of public safety.
On April 15, officers attended a residence on Ridge Rd. in Wolfville where they located the Accent outside the home and safely arrested Cox and a 34-year-old woman. Cox was arrested in relation to the incidents on April 13 and previous offences for which he was wanted. The woman was arrested in relation to previous offences for which she was wanted.
Cox has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance (vehicle) and Flight from Police. He was also issued summary offence tickets for offences under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Cox and the woman have been released on conditions pending future court appearances.

Richmond County District RCMP responded to a fatal structure fire in Grand River Falls.
On April 22 at approximately 6:55 a.m., RCMP officers, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a structure fire at a residence on Loch Lomond Rd. Upon arrival at the scene, the home was on fire and was partly destroyed.
After the fire was extinguished, the remains of an adult were located at the scene.
Nova Scotia RCMP Forensic Identification Services and investigators from the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal and Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service attended the property. At this time, based on information and evidence gathered, criminality is not believed to be a factor.
