Police investigate assault
On February 20 at approximately 7:40 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault at Randy’s Pizza, located at 2380 Agricola Street in Halifax. Officers learned the two men, who were not known to each other, got into a dispute after one man, who was believed to be intoxicated, was yelling profanities and the other man asked him to stop. The man who was believed to be intoxicated then assaulted the other. The two men were separated by others and the suspect fled before police arrived.
The victim was transported to hospital by EHS with what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

Police arrest man for robbery
On February 21 at approximately 11:10 a.m., officers responded to a robbery at the Best Buy located at 11 Washmill Lake Drive in Halifax. A man entered the store, took over $1,000 worth of merchandise, and threatened an employee with a knife. The man fled the store on foot. At approximately 11:30 a.m., police located the suspect a short distance away and arrested the man without incident. The employee was not physically harmed.
A 42-year-old man, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date and faces the following charges:
- Robbery
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Possession of stolen property under $5000

TrafficPolice investigate vehicle-pedestrian collision
On February 22 at approximately 12:30 p.m. officers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian collision at the intersection of Chebucto Road and Philip Street.
The pedestrian, an 81-year-old woman, was crossing Chebucto Road in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by vehicle travelling in the eastbound lane.
The pedestrian was transported to the hospital by EHS with life-threatening injuries.
The driver, a 76-year-old man, was issued a summary offence ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.

Police investigate suspicious package
On February 22 at approximately 4:30 p.m., police responded to a suspicious package outside Kentucky Fried Chicken, located at 18 Titus Street in Halifax. Multiple units responded, including the Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU). The business was closed and the area was cordoned to allow police to conduct further investigation.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., members of the EDU determined the package not a threat, but a hoax device. The business was allowed to reopen. The investigation is ongoing.
