Barrington RCMP arrest impaired driver after flight from police
Barrington RCMP arrested a man for impaired operation of a vehicle and flight from police after a report from the public.
On February 19 at approximately 9:50 p.m., Barrington RCMP responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver leaving Barrington. Officers conducted patrols and located the vehicle, a white Kia Sorento, in Newellton, on Cape Sable Island. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to stop.
Officers continued patrols and located the vehicle soon after, stopped in a parking lot off Hwy. 330. Though the driver and only occupant initially resisted arrest, he was soon safely arrested.
The driver, a 36-year-old Barrington man, was released pending a future court appearance. He will face charges related to Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, Dangerous Operation, and Flight from Peace Officer.
