Update: RCMP arrests fourth youth for sexual offences following hockey hazing incidents
Colchester County District RCMP has arrested a fourth youth as part of a sexual assault investigation related to hazing incidents involving a hockey team in the Truro area.
The youth was arrested on February 5 without incident. They’re facing charges of Sexual Assault and Assault with Choking.
“We believe there may be other victims who’ve not yet come forward,” says S/Sgt. Rose, District Commander, Colchester County District RCMP. “Our priority is the safety and well‑being of anyone affected by these serious offences, and we remain focused on thoroughly advancing this investigation. We understand that coming forward can be difficult. If there are others who’ve been harmed, we want them to know they’ll be heard, supported, and treated with respect. They can reach out to us safely and at a pace that feels right for them.”

Digby RCMP charges man after disturbance in Brighton
Digby RCMP Detachment has charged a man with firearms offences following an assault at a home in Brighton.
On February 5, at approximately 8:55 p.m., Digby RCMP responded to a report of an assault involving a man with a firearm at a residence in the 8800 block of Hwy. 101.
Upon arrival, officers ensured the safety of those inside the home.
Given that the man had fled the location on foot and was believed to be armed, the Nova Scotia RCMP Critical Incident Program – including Police Dog Services and the Emergency Response Team – was deployed to search the area.
In the interest of public safety, an Alert Ready emergency alert was issued to Digby, Annapolis and Yarmouth counties.
As part of the investigation, with support from Annapolis District RCMP, officers learned the man had been driven to an address in Seabrook.
Officers attended the Seabrook address, where the man was safely arrested. No firearm was located; the investigation into its whereabouts remains active.
Chandler James Gidney, 26, of Brighton, has been charged with:
- Pointing a Firearm (two counts)
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death
- Assault With a Weapon
- Assault with Choking
- Fail to Comply with Release Order (three counts)
Gidney is due in Digby Provincial Court on February 6.
The investigation is ongoing.
