Update,alert cancelled in Antigonish County: Second man is safely arrested by RCMP. There is no longer a public safety risk. The emergency alert has been cancelled.

Public advisory: alert issued, Antigonish County:

DANGEROUS PEOPLE believed to have firearms.

Area description: Pomquet Forks, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia. RCMPNS responding.

Event Description:

Two men, believed to be armed, abandoned vehicle and fled on foot nearest 124 Heatherton Village Rd.

Residents: Seek immediate SHELTER or STAY INSIDE and close and lock doors and windows. Do not pick up hitch hikers or provide a ride to anyone asking for one.

Instructions:

Call 9-1-1 to report emergencies or tips. Do not disclose police locations. Updates will be posted to RCMPNS website and social accounts.
