Cumberland County District RCMP arrest a man on outstanding warrants
Cumberland County District RCMP and Nova Scotia RCMP Critical Incident Program (CIP) safely arrested a man in Springhill related to outstanding warrants.
On October 6, Shawn Embree, 31, of Springhill, failed to attend a scheduled court appearance associated to sixteen outstanding firearms and driving offences. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
On November 18, Cumberland County District RCMP learned that Embree was at a unit within a residential building on Main St. in Springhill. When officers attended, Embers refused to exit or comply with police direction.
Out of an abundance of caution and in consideration of Embree’s previous known possession of firearms, officers directed people in neighbouring apartments to exit the building temporarily and part of Main St. was closed to traffic. Support units including RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) and Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team attended.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., Embree left the building and attempted to flee on foot. He was safely arrested.
Embree had a court appearance on November 19 and remains in custody pending future court appearances. He is facing a total of 30 charges from multiple ongoing investigations lead by Cumberland County District RCMP and Amherst Police Department.
Officers appreciated cooperation from residents of Springhill as they worked towards a safe resolution of this incident.

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has arrested a man after a vehicle crash on Hwy. 118 in Waverley.
On November 22, at approximately 7:37 p.m., RCMP officers and fire services responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 118 northbound in Waverley. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located an overturned Dodge Ram in the ditch.
The driver and lone occupant of the truck was not physically injured.
Responding officers observed the driver, a 38-year-old man from East Preston, displaying signs of impairment and arrested him for impaired driving.
The man was transported to the Lower Sackville RCMP Detachment, where he provided two breath samples; they registered 240 mg% and 230 mg%.
The man was released and will face charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Over 80 mg% when he appears in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.

Digby RCMP has charged a man after shots were fired at a residence on November 23. The man remains in custody.
On November 23, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Digby RCMP and Annapolis District RCMP attended a report of a break and enter at a residence on West St. in Digby. Officers learned that a man had entered the home and damaged a locked cabinet in order to remove firearms and ammunition.
On arrival at the residence, officers observed a man inside and directed him to exit. He was safely arrested outside the home. No one else was inside the home at the time of the offences.
After the arrest, officers learned that the man had used one of the firearms taken from the cabinet and fired at a different nearby residence, causing damage to the outside of the house. Investigators believe this was targeted to the specific residence. No injuries were reported.
Dallas Troy Ducette, 23, of Havelock, NS, is charged with more than twenty offences including Discharging Firearm – Recklessness (two counts), Break and Enter (two counts), Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Failure to Comply with Probation Order (4 counts) and Failure to Comply with Release Order. He appeared at Digby Provincial Court on November 24 and remains in custody.
Investigators have followed up with other residents in the area about evidence associated to the shots fired.
