Never give up!
**** Via Hope for Wildlife Never give up! Sometimes we get calls for rescues that are difficult to do, like with this female mallard duck. The hen was first reported to us in the winter because she had the lid of an Tim's iced cappuccino around her neck. Trouble is, she could both fly and swim normally. And we didn't want to just leave it there, you never know what could happen. We made plans to try to catch her, but every time we went back, we couldn’t find her. So we'd get more reports, more tries - nothing. But then we got lucky and we finally spotted her. But there were a lot of people around, kids on bikes, pets, etc. She wouldn't come close enough to get a net on her. So we formed a plan to come by really early the next morning hoping she'd still be there - and she was! This time some patience and a little cracked corn did the trick, and we were able to remove the garbage. Most of it had disappeared under her feathers, probably from grooming around it. She was unharmed, so we let her go and her and her mate went on their merry way. www.hoperaffle.ca - $122,050 and climbing! Todays the day! The final day to purchase tickets for our 50/50 raffle. If you'd the type of person that waits until the last minute to do stuff - this is pretty much it! Help us fill our food pantries and stock our hospital for the Spring season, and at the same time get a chance of winning a bucket of cash! The animals really do need our help. Good luck!
