**** Via Hope for WildlifeThank you, Kingston Fire Department!It was rescue volunteer Stacey's second day when she received a call about a raccoon with a jar stuck on her head - 30' up in a tree! Certainly not an easy rescue for a newbie. As luck would have it, on her way to the raccoon she passed by the Kingston Fire Department, who was in the middle of having an open house. So she stopped in and asked them for help, and they sprang into action with their bucket truck.Even with the cherry-picker, it's no easy feat to help a raccoon get a jar off it's head, but they did it! The little one was fine she hurried off to safety.Raccoons are curious, smart, and nimble-pawed animals, so remember to put the lids back on all your jars when they go out into the recycling, and crush your cans. We receive a lot of calls for animals with things on heads, and they don't always end so well.
