Fire Regulations Postpone Dartmouth’s Fire and Water Festival to October
Alderney Landing’s annual Fire and Water Cultural Festival returns to the Downtown Dartmouth waterfront on Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM each evening.
The decision to move the festival from September to October comes in response to ongoing fire regulations and current environmental conditions in Nova Scotia. While the shift brings a new atmosphere to the event, the festival’s spirit remains unchanged — a vibrant celebration of diverse cultural traditions, shared stories, and the elements that connect us: fire and water.
“This year’s festival feels especially meaningful,” says Bea MacGregor, CEO of Alderney Landing. “With wildfires affecting so many in our community, the Festival gives us an opportunity to come together, celebrate resilience, and honour the cultural diversity that makes our community so strong.”
Visitors can look forward to two nights of spectacular entertainment and immersive experiences, including:
Dazzling fire performances along the harbourside
Indigenous teachings around the sacred fire
An African drumming circle
Live performances featuring cultural storytelling, music, and dance
Interactive art programming for all ages
Local mobile kitchens offering delicious global flavours
Admission to the festival is free, and all ages are welcome.
