Update on BC Camp Courage

Proudly Announcing Camp Courage’s BC Expansion!
We’re thrilled to share that Camp Courage, powered by the Coastal Nations Coast Guard Auxiliary, is expanding across beautiful British Columbia! This groundbreaking Indigenous-led leadership camp is making history—delivering hands-on, immersive training for Indigenous young women and gender-diverse youth across the West Coast.
Why we’re bursting with pride:
For nearly two decades, Camp Courage has been igniting passion and purpose. Now, for the first time, it's being delivered by and for Indigenous communities in BC, bringing powerful representation and opportunity home.
Dawn Wilson, CEO of the Coastal Nations Coast Guard Auxiliary, says: “It’s really important for these campers to see women in these roles and imagine themselves in these roles.”
Hear it from Keira Wells, age 17: “I really want to become a paramedic… go into the medical field.”
And alumna Christie Webb calls Camp Courage “the best week of my entire life,” a turning point that led her to become a firefighter. (Note Amber Barkhouse went as well, representing us).
As the graduation ceremony unfolds this Friday, July 25, we invite everyone to celebrate this incredible milestone. This isn’t just an expansion—it’s a launchpad for future heroes, leaders, and role models across BC.
To our campers: Your bravery is an inspiration. To our community: Thanks for championing Indigenous leadership. Together, we’re fostering futures full of strength, service, and vision. Let’s continue spreading the word—share, tag, and support!
