In photos – The heat is on as the campers burn into Fire Day 1 as Camp Courage roars on!
An exhausting but fun first day of fire exercises saw the campers roaring to go as a busy day of interactive fire training pushed through with tremendous support from mentors and volunteers who ensured safety, enjoyment and exhaustion was plentiful.
Campers were trained on hose use and got to battle blazes while others challenged themselves in a confidence trailers, a dark maze with obstacles designed to teach puzzle solving while navigating uncertainty.
Campers learned radio and ladder work and forced doors for rescue. With the first day down, the campers are energized and ready for even more rotations ranging from ziplines to smoke rooms and so much more!
At this point, the campers have explored so many options through Coast Guard, law enforcement and EHS.
This truly wonderful experience will last a life time and encourage them to follow up with a career as a first responders, especially with many mentors started as campers and now work as first responders!
