A determined snapping turtle just couldn't take any more time while on a mission today!
Turtles in NS generally breed in the same nesting sites they were hatched at themselves. As a result, as the weather warms up and breeding season draws near, many turtles make a long journey, some times at great peril, so they themselves can continue to contribute to their species.
This snapper is likely on the way to her own hatch site and nothing was going to stop that!
Sadly, all species of turtles in NS are at risk, with destruction of nesting sites creating significant problems as well as other environmental factors and harmful interaction with humans.
