On April 8, 2024, most regions of Nova Scotia will experience a partial (nearly total) solar eclipse
This rare phenomenon will occur approximately between 15:24 and 5:46, culminating between 4:36 and 4:41 pm.
✔️ If you decide to watch the eclipse, wear solar eclipse glasses that comply with international standard ISO 12312-2.
✔️ Teach kids how to safely watch the eclipse, and keep pets inside.
❌ Do not look directly at the Sun without adequate protection. Sunglasses are not enough.
❌ Vehicle windows and windshields will not protect your eyes.
❌ Cameras, twins and telescopes must never be used without a filter to observe the eclipse.
If you're traveling to see the solar eclipse, do so safely!
✔️ Keep your eyes on the road.
✔️ Turn on your headlights.
✔️ Drive safely. During the eclipse, temperatures can drop, which could cause low elevation areas to freeze.
❌ Do not wear solar eclipse glasses when driving.
❌ Don't stop on the roadside to watch the eclipse. Find a safe place off the road to watch the eclipse with proper protection.
