Certain Steamfast brand lightweight handheld travel steam iron models recalled due to fire hazard
Issue
The power cord can become damaged near the cord bushing, which can lead to overheating of the cord, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. In addition, cord damage near the bushing can result in exposed copper wires, posing a shock hazard.
As of April 20, 2023, the company has received 1 report of an incident in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received 50 reports of incidents and no reports of injuries.
Affected products
This recall involves Steamfast brand lightweight handheld Home and Away Travel Steam Irons: SF-717, SF-720, manufactured between January 2008 and March 2017. Models manufactured after March 2017 are not impacted by the recall. The model numbers and the production date codes are printed on the back of the irons. Steamfast is printed on the white iron.
The recalled Steamfast irons can also be identified by the length of the cord bushing. The recalled irons have a gray or black cord bushing that extends less than one inch from the enclosure along the power cord.
