The head of the sledgehammers can loosen prematurely and detach unexpectedly during use, posing an impact injury hazard to the user.
As of March 15, 2023, the company has received 1 report of a sledgehammer head detaching in Canada, and no report of injuries. In the United States, the company has received 191 reports of sledgehammer heads detaching and 2 reports of injuries to the user.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled sledgehammers and contact Stanley Black & Decker for a refund.
To obtain a refund, consumers should register on the firm’s recall website (found below), upload a photo of their hammer with "Recalled" written on the handle with permanent marker, and affirm the hammer will be disposed of.
