New Year's Eve in the Halifax Regional Municipality 2021
New Year’s Eve 2021 virtual celebrations
Mayor Mike Savage and members of Regional Council are inviting residents to tune into this year’s virtual New Year’s Eve celebrations, NYE 2021, airing on the Eastlink YouTube channel and Eastlink Community TV, beginning at 11 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31.
The municipality is pleased to present a new Virtual Experience to our residents from the floor of the Scotiabank Centre. NYE 2021 is a free virtual concert, hosted by musical guest, Ben Caplan. The show will feature the most advanced stage production in HFX NYE history, including over 5,000 square feet of visuals and live performances by Juno winner JRDN, Jules Bangsworth, Knotez, Leanne Hoffman, Loviet, Owen O Sound Lee and national headliner, Ria Mae.
A virtual pre-show dance party, featuring Jules Bangsworth and other guests, will begin at 10:30 p.m. This will include thirty minutes of dance music and a new visual experience showcasing the City Hall holiday projection. There will also be behind the scenes interviews before the artists take to the main stage. Further, a special extended New Year’s countdown will begin at 11:59 p.m. All broadcasts will be available on Channel 610 on Eastlink TV or the Eastlink YouTube channel.
Use #hfxNYE on social media to share photos, New Year's resolutions, and collectively countdown to 2021.
In support of M.A.D.D. Halifax Region, Halifax Transit will not collect fares on New Year's Eve from 6 p.m. onward. Offering free fares during this period of time is not meant to encourage people to use transit, the intent is to provide a safe transportation option for those who do decide to travel on New Year's Eve. Have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve.
