Sad news from Hope for Wildlife "It is with great sadness that we let you all know that our beloved Frankie the Fox has passed away. When you love animals like we do, every loss is hard. But sometimes we are fortunate enough to share an animal’s life from youth through their golden years, and with Frankie, we had that gift. Frankie arrived as a pup after being hit by a car. She suffered severe head trauma, seizures and temporary paralysis. We soon learned that she had permanent neurological vision impairment, but that feisty little kit adapted, learning to navigate her world with her nose, her ears and the vision she had left. Frankie spent her youth running and playing as a permanent education resident, dragging her stuffies around, untying shoelaces, chasing balls and playing with her Kong toy. When we were open to the public, she loved running back and forth along her enclosure, chasing kids, before settling down for a nap on top of her house. And she never missed her hand-delivered morning treat - a mouse personally delivered by Hope. In her eight years with us, Frankie touched tens of thousands of lives. She met people from around the world, countless volunteers and visitors, brought joy to people with disabilities, sat quietly with recreational therapy groups and Make-A-Wish children, and became part of many special memories and lifetime goals. There is no way to measure the wonder and respect for wildlife she helped to inspire. There is so much we could say, yet at moments like this, it’s almost impossible to find the words. Thank you for everything, Frankie. You can never be replaced, and you will never be forgotten."
