In photos - Camp Courage takes off as Fire Day 2, the last active day, zips along!
The campers have done it. As Fire Day 2 kept the heat on, campers faced challenges head on.
Zip lines and rappelling tested the campers grit with heights as a search and rescue in full gear out the campers in a dark and smoky structure with a "victim" waiting to be rescued.
HAZMAT made for a challenging station as communication and dexterity were put to the test in full HAZMAT gear.
The campers were able to cut into vehicles with heavy tools, learning how to smash windows and remove doors in a rescue operation as a 110' serial took the campers to new heights.
Campers also learned how to run a hose to a hydrant and how yo hook a hose then run water quickly, since time is of the essence.
All of this after the day started with a firefighter challenge where teams of campers raced up a 6 story structure carrying hose, pulling up a bundle of hose from below, then heading to a 200lbs block that had to be hammered through a track.
Continuing on, the racers ran a course to a hose they had to advance, knocking down a target before hauling a victim to a finish line!
All the time, volunteers and mentors kept the campers safe, educated and encouraged.
Tomorrow, the 25 campers graduate. They will show off their new skills in a demo for friends and family before speeches and certificates are handed out.
They will leave filled with confidence and a new look as a first responder!
