Residents invited to Natal Day celebrations

 The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to participate in the 129^th annual Natal Day celebrations.

Residents are encouraged to attend municipal and community-led events that offer a diverse mix of music, culture, entertainment and family-friendly fun.

The annual Natal Day Parade will take place on Monday, Aug. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. This event attracts hundreds of residents from across the region. Registration for parade participants remains open until Friday, July 17.

The Halifax-Dartmouth Natal Day Fireworks will take place on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 10 p.m. on the Halifax and Dartmouth waterfronts.

The status of fireworks for events is subject to change, with a rain date of Sunday, Aug. 2 at 10 p.m. Notification of changes will be shared on the municipality’s Facebook, Instagram and Bluesky platforms.

In addition to the parade and fireworks, residents can also participate in the following municipal events taking place over the Natal Day weekend:

• Crescendo Fest 2026, celebrating black music, excellence and culture, will take place at Dartmouth Ferry Terminal Park on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 7 to 10 p.m.
• The African Nova Scotia Music Association (ANSMA) Freedom Festival on Sunday, Aug. 2 from 2 to 9:30 p.m., with fireworks at Dartmouth Ferry Terminal Park at 9:30 p.m.
• The 120th annual Dartmouth Natal Day Road Race will take place on Monday, Aug. 3 from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
• Natal Day Family Fun Day at Sullivan's Pond Park on Monday, Aug. 3 from 12 to 4 p.m.
• The Lake Banook Natal Day fireworks will take place on Monday, Aug. 3 at 9:30 p.m.

Residents are also invited to attend the annual Bridgewalk on the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge on Sunday, Aug. 2 from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

Halifax Transit ferry service will be free on Saturday, Aug. 1. Residents are encouraged to take public transit when attending events. The Parker Street Food Bank will be accepting donations at the Halifax and Alderney ferry terminals in lieu of fares.
