Residents invited to take part in Curbside Give Away Weekend

Residents are invited to take part in Curbside Give Away Weekend on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7 across the Halifax region, rain or shine. Held twice a year, the event offers an opportunity to declutter your home and find free items that can be reused.

This initiative supports community reuse and waste diversion efforts in alignment with the Strengthening Communities goals outlined in the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.

Clean, reusable items can be placed at the curb with a sign marking items as “FREE”. Be sure to keep any items not intended for Curbside Give Away Weekend off the curb to avoid confusion.

Participants should only take items clearly marked as “FREE”. For safety, all traffic laws must be followed. Participants can promote available items and plan ahead by pinning and viewing listings on the Curbside Give Away map. Item descriptions and locations can help others find items they are looking for. Participants may also share their experiences and connect with others on Facebook and Instagram using #HfxCurbside.

All unclaimed items must be removed from the curb by dusk on Sunday, June 7. Any unclaimed usable items can be donated to local charitable organizations or disposed of on your regular garbage collection day, in accordance with standard collection limits.
