Municipal service level adjustments for the Easter long weekend
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of the following municipal program and service level adjustments for the upcoming Easter long weekend from Friday, April 3 to Monday, April 6.
Solid Waste Collection and Facility Hours
There will be no garbage, organics or recyclables collection services on April 3.
Curbside collection normally scheduled for April 3 will instead occur on April 4. Residents are asked to place materials curbside prior to 7 a.m. on collection day to guarantee pickup, ensuring items are contained and secured from wildlife.
Regular curbside collection services will resume on April 6.
The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility and Materials Recovery Facility will be closed on April 3 but will be open on April 4 for regular business hours.
The Household Special Waste Depot in Bayers Lake will be closed on April 4 but will be open on April 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Halifax Transit Bus & Ferry Services
Halifax Transit buses will be operating on holiday schedules on April 3. Alderney and Woodside ferry services will not be operating on April 3.
Buses will be operating on regular schedules on April 4 and April 5.
Alderney ferry service will operate on regular weekend schedules on April 4 and provide holiday service on April 5, with the first trip departing Alderney Ferry Terminal at 7:30 a.m. Woodside ferry service does not operate on weekends or holidays.
Buses and ferries will operate on regular schedules on April 6, noting the Alderney ferry is operating on a 30-minute schedule due to repair work on the Vincent Coleman ferry.

Recreation Facilities, Programs and Services
Most municipal recreation facilities will be closed on April 3, 5 and 6.
Residents are advised to call ahead to their respective facility for operating hours and program information as weekend hours may vary. Contact information for municipally operated facilities is online.
Customer Contact Centres
The 311 Customer Contact Centre will be closed on April 3 and April 5. Urgent calls can still be reported during the holidays. The 311 Customer Contact Centres will be open on April 4 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will resume regular operating hours on April 6. Residents can reach 311 by phone, or by emailing contactus@311.halifax.ca.
In-person Customer Service Centres will be closed on April 3 and April 6. Customer Service Centres will reopen with regular hours on April 7.
Parking
On-street paid parking will be free on April 3 and April 6. Residents are reminded to always abide by posted signage and other safety regulations, including ensuring they are not blocking crosswalks.
