Residents invited to Albro Lake naturalization event
The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that a community-based planting workshop will take place at Albro Lake in Dartmouth in April. The initiative aims to improve local water quality, add shade for beach users, enhance the freshwater ecosystem and help prevent erosion.
The municipality is working with Helping Nature Heal Inc. to facilitate the workshop. The naturalization work will also help reduce bird waste pollution, which can contribute to beach closures.
The planting workshop supports the municipality’s Naturalization Strategy, which takes a landscape management approach to improve biodiversity and enhance the resilience of urban spaces.
Residents are invited to participate in the planting workshop from April 21-23. Volunteers are not required to attend all days, and opportunities are available for a range of abilities. To register, visit halifax.ca/albro-lake.
