Traffic Delay – Barrington Street

Location: Barrington Street, between Spring Garden Road and Sackville Street

Date: Thursday, June 26 to Friday, June 27

Time: 6 p.m. until 7 a.m. (overnight)

Work details: This is to facilitate the installation of a natural gas service.

Traffic impact: A lane reduction will be in place with stop-and-go traffic through the work area. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – North Preston Road

Location: North Preston Road from Civic 276 to Long Lake Bridge

Date: Thursday, June 26 and Friday, June 27

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Intersection of Robie and Almon streets

Location: Intersection of Robie and Almon streets

Date: Thursday, July 3 to Friday, July 4

Time: 7 p.m. on Thursday to 6 a.m. on Friday

Work details: This work is to support the activation of a new gas main.

Traffic impact: Two-way traffic will be maintained. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.

Traffic Delay – Almon Street

Location: Almon Street, from Gladstone to Robie streets

Dates: Thursday, June 26

Time: 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: A lane closure will be in place while work is underway. Detour signs will be in place for motorists, with pedestrian access maintained. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Lacewood Drive

Location: Lacewood Drive near civic 358 Lacewood Drive

Date: Thursday, June 26

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate a natural gas service installation.

Traffic impact: Two lanes in each direction will be maintained on Lacewood Drive near this work. The right-turn lane from Lacewood to Regency Park drives will be closed to facilitate this work. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Sackville Drive

Location: Sackville Drive, from Beaver Bank Road to Millwood Drive

Date: Wednesday, June 25

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway with two-way traffic maintained. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Road Closure – Jubilee Road

 

Location: Jubilee Road, between Edward and Robie streets

Date: Wednesday, June 25

Time: 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. 

Work details: This work is related to a nearby development at 1694 Robie Street.

Traffic impact: Detours and signage will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Pedestrian impact: The north sidewalk on Jubilee Road will remain open during the street closure. The south sidewalk may be closed at times during construction.

Pedestrians are asked to use alternative crosswalks to navigate around the construction site.

Location: Caldwell Road, from Birchill to DeYoung drives

Date: Tuesday, June 24 to Friday, June 27

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily

Work details: This work includes road repair in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Larry Uteck Boulevard

Location: Intersection of Larry Uteck Boulevard and Bluewater Road

Dates: Wednesday, July 2 until Thursday, July 3

Time: 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. (overnight)

Work details: This work is to support the installation of a new gas main.

Traffic impact: A lane closure will be in place while work is underway. Traffic control personnel will be on site. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Bedford Highway

Location: Bedford Highway, Flamingo Drive to Kearney Lake Road

Date: Tuesday, June 24

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops maintaining two-way traffic will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Caldwell Road

Location: Caldwell Road, from Birchill to DeYoung drives

Dates: Monday, June 23

Time: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Intersection Closure – Cogswell Street and Upper Water Street

Location: Intersection of Cogswell Street and Upper Water Street

Date: Saturday, July 5 to Monday, July 7

Times: 24/7, starting at 5 a.m. on Saturday and ending at 5 a.m. on Monday

Work details: This work is to re-grade and re-pave the intersection to align with the final design of Upper Water Street. This work is in support of the Cogswell District project.

Traffic impact: Vehicles will detour via Reconciliation Street. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road

Location: Dutch Village Road, between Bayers Road and Supreme Court

Date: Tuesday, April 22 to mid-December 2025

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with weekend work as required

Work details: This work is to improve the safety and comfort of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and drivers.

Sidewalk and bikeway upgrades: New sidewalks and bike lanes will be installed on both sides of Dutch Village Road within the project area.

Transit infrastructure upgrades: New concrete pads will be added to improve accessibility at bus stops.

Streetscaping enhancements: Trees, benches, garbage receptacles, and interpretive signage will be added to enhance the pedestrian experience.

Parking and traffic calming: Existing parking spaces will be replaced with on-street parallel parking and lane widths will be reduced to help calm traffic and improve safety.

Traffic impacts: Access to businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the project; however, residents and commuters should expect the following traffic impacts:

Lane reductions and stop-and-go traffic within the project area

Temporary closures on side-streets to install new underground infrastructure

The sidewalk along Dutch Village Road will remain open for pedestrian use

Transit Impacts: This work will impact Halifax Transit routes 28 and 137. Throughout phases of this project, different bus stops along Dutch Village Road will be impacted and routes may be temporarily detoured.

Location: Inglis Street, between Ivanhoe and South Park streets

Date: Monday, June 23 to Friday, June 27

Time: 24/7

Work details: This work is needed for underground service connections to 1018 South Park Street.

Traffic Impact: Detours and signage will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible. Pedestrians are asked to use nearby crosswalks to navigate around the work area.

Transit Impact:

Inbound

Routes 4, 10A, 10B, 10C and 24 will be detoured via Young Avenue to Point Pleasant Drive to Tower Road.

Route 29 will be detoured via Young Avenue to Point Pleasant Drive to the Tower Road turning loop.

Inbound bus stops 6970 on Inglis Street, between South Park and Tower Road and 8402, 8401 and 8407 on Tower Road between Inglis Street and Point Pleasant Drive. will be temporarily closed. A temporary bus stop will be located on Young Avenue.

Outbound

Routes 4, 10A, 10B, 10C and 24 will be detoured via Wellington to South streets.

Route 29 will be detoured via Point Pleasant Drive to Young Avenue.

Bus stop 8306, 8314 on South Park Street, between Inglis and South streets.

Bus stop 6969 on Inglis Street, between Wellington Street and Tower Road and bus stops 8405, 8404, 8403 and 8408 on Tower Road between Point Pleasant Drive and Inglis Street will be temporarily closed. A temporary bus stop will be located on Young Avenue.

Traffic Advisory – Halifax Regional Municipality

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Bedford Bypass

The westbound lanes of Highway 101 will be reduced to one lane for repairs to the bridge at Highway 102 in Bedford.

Work takes place from Thursday, May 8, until Friday, July 18.

Work takes place daily from sunrise to sunset. Motorists should expect delays.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Bedford Bypass

Repairs to the Highway 101/Highway 102 bridge structure in Bedford will cause additional lane restrictions the next three nights.

The following restrictions will be in place from 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting tonight, May 14:

- Highway 102 southbound (inbound) will be down to one lane

- the Highway 101 westbound to Highway 102 southbound ramp will be closed, and there will be a detour in place.

Since last week, Highway 101 westbound at the structure has been reduced to one lane. Work takes place daily from sunrise to sunset, and motorists can expect delays.

The repairs are expected to be complete by Friday, July 18.

INVERNESS COUNTY: East Street, Port Hood

East Street from Trunk 19 to the end of pavement will be reduced to one lane for paving, ditching and culvert replacement from Monday, June 23, until Saturday, August 30.

Work takes place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Motorists should expect delays.

Kings Road from Charles MacLean Road to the end of pavement will be reduced to one lane for paving, ditching and culvert replacement from Monday, June 23, until Saturday, August 30.

Work takes place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Motorists should expect delays.
