Lane Closure – Wyse Road Location: Wyse Road between the MacDonald Bridge and Pelzant Street Date: Friday, May 9 to Monday, May 12 Time: 24/7, starting at 6 p.m. on Friday and ending at 6 a.m. on Monday Work details: This lane closure is to facilitate the safe maneuvering of construction equipment for a water line installation. Traffic impact: One lane will be maintained in each direction. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.

Traffic Delay – Dartmouth Road

Location: Dartmouth Road, from the Bedford Highway to the Magazine Hill Public Works Department Date: Thursday, May 8 Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Work details: This work is to facilitate asphalt repair in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network. Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes wherever possible.

Location: Lawrencetown Road, from Robinson to Mineville roads

Date: Thursday, May 8

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is to facilitate asphalt repair in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Spring Garden Road

Location: Spring Garden Road, between South Park Street and Dresden Row

Date: Monday, May 12 and Tuesday, May 13

Time: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily

Work details: This work is required for the safe lifting of construction materials into the construction site at the Nelson building on Spring Garden Road.

Traffic impact: The westbound lane will be closed. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway

Pedestrian Impact: The sidewalk will be closed along the area where the work is taking place. Pedestrians are asked to use alternative crosswalks to navigate around the project site

Transit impact: The following stops will be closed:

    • Spring Garden Road Before South Park Street (8334)
    • Spring Garden Road Before Dresden Row (8330)
    • South Park Street Before University Ave (8313)

Passengers using Spring Garden Road Before South Park Street (8334) and Spring Garden Rd Before Dresden Row (8330) are requested to proceed to Spring Garden Road Before Queen Street (8331). Passengers using South Park Street Before University Avenue (8313) are requested to proceed to South Park Street Before South Street (8311).

Location: Bluewater Road, between Topsail Court and Command Court

Date: Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 8

Time: 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day

Work details: This work is required for gas service installation and road repairs.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes wherever possible.

Road Closure - Frederick Avenue

Location: Frederick Avenue

Date: Monday, May 12 to Friday, May 16

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This closure will allow Eastward Energy to realign the gas lines in support of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.

Traffic impact: Access to local traffic and emergency vehicles will be maintained during the closure by the contractor. Drivers should expect delays and use alternative routes.

Road Closure – Akerley Boulevard and Burnside Drive

Location: Akerley Boulevard, between Joseph Zatzman Drive and Williams Avenue, and Burnside Drive, between Wright Avenue and Highway 107

Date: Sunday, May 11 until Thursday, May 15

Time: 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. (overnight)

Work details: This work is for the installation of overhead signage.

Traffic impact: A detour will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes wherever possible.

Location: Intersection of Sunnybrae Avenue and Dutch Village Road

Date: Monday, May 5 to Friday, May 9

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This work is in support of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.

Traffic impacts: Traffic will be detoured via Alex Street. Local access will be maintained, a signed detour route will be in place and personnel will be on-site to help direct traffic.

Location: Bedford Highway from Civic 30 to Flamingo Drive

Date: Sunday, May 4 to Friday, May 9

Time: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Location: Albro Lake Road, between Victoria Road and Catherine Street

Date: Monday, May 5 to Monday, May 26

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is to facilitate sidewalk repair, in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic Delay – Cobequid Road

Location: Cobequid Road, from 450 Cobequid Road to Maple Grove Drive

Date: Monday, May 5

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m

Work details: This work includes crosswalk painting, in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road

Location: Dutch Village Road, between Bayers Road and Supreme Court

Date: Tuesday, April 22 to mid-December 2025

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with weekend work as required

Work details: This work is to improve the safety and comfort of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and drivers.

Sidewalk and bikeway upgrades: New sidewalks and bike lanes will be installed on both sides of Dutch Village Road within the project area.

Transit infrastructure upgrades: New concrete pads will be added to improve accessibility at bus stops.

Streetscaping enhancements: Trees, benches, garbage receptacles, and interpretive signage will be added to enhance the pedestrian experience.

Parking and traffic calming: Existing parking spaces will be replaced with on-street parallel parking and lane widths will be reduced to help calm traffic and improve safety.

Traffic impacts: Access to businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the project; however, residents and commuters should expect the following traffic impacts:

Lane reductions and stop-and-go traffic within the project area

Temporary closures on side-streets to install new underground infrastructure

The sidewalk along Dutch Village Road will remain open for pedestrian use

Transit Impacts: This work will impact Halifax Transit routes 28 and 137. Throughout phases of this project, different bus stops along Dutch Village Road will be impacted and routes may be temporarily detoured.

Traffic delay – Larry Uteck Boulevard

Location: Larry Uteck Boulevard, from Bluewater Road to civic address 50 Broad Street

Date: Monday, May 5 to Friday, May 9

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Work details: This work is to support upgrades to gas mains.

Traffic impact: A lane closure will be in place while work is underway. Stop-and- go traffic control will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes wherever possible.

Street Modification – Upper Water Street

Location: Upper Water Street between Reconciliation Way and Barrington Street

Date: Effective May 6

Traffic impact: Upper Water Street between Reconciliation Way and Barrington Street will re-open with two modified traffic lanes, one in each direction. The intersection at Barrington and Upper Water Street is reconfigured as per the attached map. Drivers will no longer be able to turn left from Upper Water Street to Barrington Street. As work continues in this area, access will be maintained to driveways and Cogswell Street. There may be intermittent temporary closures to the northern portion of Purdy’s Lane to facilitate pipe work.

Location: Thistle Street, from Beech Street to Crichton Park Road

Date: Thursday, May 1 until Friday, May 16

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Work details: This work includes road repair, in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.

Traffic impact: A signed detour will be in place while work is underway and traffic control personnel will be on site. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Street Closure – Gottingen Street

Location: Gottingen Street, between Bilby and Macara streets

Date: Saturday, May 3

Time: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This closure is to facilitate the safe installation of crane equipment for a new development on Bilby Street.

Traffic impact: One lane of traffic will be closed while work is underway. A detour will be in place. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Gottingen Street, between Bilby and Macara streets

Date: Saturday, May 3

Time: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Work details: This lane closure is to facilitate the safe maneuvering of crane equipment on Gottingen Street for the new development at 5511 Bilby Street.

Traffic impact: Detour will be in place.
