Traffic Delay – Spring Garden Road
Location: Spring Garden Road, between South Park Street and Dresden Row
Date: Monday, May 26 and Tuesday, May 27
Time: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily
Work details: This work is required for the safe lifting of construction materials into the construction site at the Nelson building on Spring Garden Road.
Traffic impact: The westbound lane will be closed. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.
Pedestrian Impact: The sidewalk will be closed along the area where the work is taking place. Pedestrians are asked to use alternative crosswalks to navigate around the project site.
Transit impact: The following stops will be closed:
- Spring Garden Road Before South Park Street (8334)
- Spring Garden Road Before Dresden Row (8330)
- South Park Street Before University Avenue (8313)
Passengers using stops 8334 and 8330 are requested to proceed to Spring Garden Road Before Queen Street (8331). Passengers using the stop 8313 are requested to proceed to South Park Street Before South Street (8311)

Traffic Delay – Waverly Road
Location: Waverly Road, at the intersection with Mountbatten Avenue
Date: Monday, May 26 to Tuesday July 15
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, weekdays only.
Work details: This is required for retrofitting of a pressure relief valve chamber.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible. A temporary crosswalk will be installed at the corner of Waverly Road and Mountbatten Avenue, and a temporary sidewalk with jersey barriers will be in place to maintain pedestrian access.

Traffic Delay – University Avenue
Location: Eastbound lane, between Robie and Summer streets
Dates: Friday, May 23 to Monday, May 26
Time: Friday, May 23 at 6 p.m. to Monday, May 26 at 7 a.m.
Work details: The eastbound lane of University Avenue will be closed between Robie and Summer streets to facilitate the safe maneuvering of equipment for installing underground utilities supporting the IWK expansion.
Traffic impact: Detour traffic control will be in place. Local access will be maintained.

Location: Dunbrack Street, from Wentworth Drive to Kearney Lake Road
Date: Thursday, May 22
Time: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work is for pavement maintenance, which supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: Lane drops will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Oxford Street and Jubilee Road
Location: Intersection of Oxford Street and Jubilee Road
Date: Wednesday, May 21 to Thursday, May 22
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work is for installing upgrades for the traffic lights. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: The traffic lights and signals at the intersection of Oxford Street and Coburg Road will not be operational while work is underway. Stop-and-go traffic will be in place to guide drivers through the work area. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible

Traffic Delay – Bedford Highway and Joseph Howe Drive ramp
Location: Bedford Highway and Joseph Howe Drive ramp
Date: Sunday, May 25
Time: 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Work details: This is required to facilitate boreholes for exploratory work related to water main work.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. The affected ramp is for westbound traffic (outbound) on the Bedford Highway.
Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.

Location: Inglis Street, between Victoria Road and Bland Street
Date: Wednesday, May 21
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This is to repair a water service lateral at 5429 Inglis Street.
Traffic impact: Lane drops and stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Location: Bedford Highway, from Seton Road to Sherbrooke Drive
Date: Tuesday, May 20
Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Work details: This is to facilitate road repairs in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: An altered centreline will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes where possible.

Traffic Delay – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road, between Bayers Road and Supreme Court
Date: Tuesday, April 22 to mid-December 2025
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with weekend work as required
Work details: This work is to improve the safety and comfort of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and drivers.
Sidewalk and bikeway upgrades: New sidewalks and bike lanes will be installed on both sides of Dutch Village Road within the project area.
Transit infrastructure upgrades: New concrete pads will be added to improve accessibility at bus stops.
Streetscaping enhancements: Trees, benches, garbage receptacles, and interpretive signage will be added to enhance the pedestrian experience.
Parking and traffic calming: Existing parking spaces will be replaced with on-street parallel parking and lane widths will be reduced to help calm traffic and improve safety.
Traffic impacts: Access to businesses and properties will be maintained throughout the project; however, residents and commuters should expect the following traffic impacts:
Lane reductions and stop-and-go traffic within the project area
Temporary closures on side-streets to install new underground infrastructure
The sidewalk along Dutch Village Road will remain open for pedestrian use
Transit Impacts: This work will impact Halifax Transit routes 28 and 137. Throughout phases of this project, different bus stops along Dutch Village Road will be impacted and routes may be temporarily detoured.

Traffic Delays - Robie Street, Bell Road and Jubilee Road
Location: Robie Street, Bell Road and Jubilee Road
Date: Monday, May 12 to Monday, June 9
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work is to reinstate the previously damaged road infrastructure during previous construction activities in support of the development at the QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project.
Traffic impact: Lane reduction is expected on Robie Street and Bell Road. Lane closure is also expected on Jubilee Road at some point during this work. Traffic control signs will direct vehicles through this construction zone. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.Pedestrian impact: Pedestrian wayfinding signage will be in place. Pedestrians are asked to use alternative crosswalks to navigate around any construction site.

Lane Closure – Dutch Village Road
Location: Dutch Village Road between Westerwald Street and Joseph Howe Drive
Dates: Monday, May 12 to Friday, June 6
Time: 24/7
Work details: This work is to facilitate pipework as well as street recapitalization as part the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impacts: Westbound traffic will still be able to turn onto Dutch Village Road from Joseph Howe Drive.
Local access will be maintained, detour signage will be in place and personnel will be on-site to help direct traffic.
Transit impacts: Route 28 and 137 will be detoured causing the following bus stops to be temporarily closed:
Dutch Village Road before Rufus Avenue (6614) will be directed to Dutch Village Road before Rosedale Avenue (6613)
Dutch Village Road before Deal Street (6615) will be directed to Dutch Village Road before Andrew Street (6609)
Dutch Village Road after Alma Crescent (9042) will be directed to Dutch Village Road opposite Percy Street (6616)

Location: Albro Lake Road, between Victoria Road and Catherine Street
Date: Monday, May 5 to Monday, May 26
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work is to facilitate sidewalk repair, in support of the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network.
Traffic impact: Stop-and-go traffic will be in place while work is underway. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to take alternative routes whenever possible

Road Closure – Intersection of Sunnybrae Avenue and Dutch Village Road
Location: Intersection of Sunnybrae Avenue and Dutch Village Road
Date: Monday, May 12 to Friday, June 6
Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Work details: This work is to facilitate pipework in support of the Dutch Village Road Complete Streets project.
Traffic impacts: Traffic will be detoured via Alex Street and Dutch Village Road. Local access will be maintained, a signed detour route will be in place and personnel will be on-site to help direct traffic.
