Update - Police are investigating threat to local high school
Police have completed a search of Halifax West High School and students and staff have been released from the building.
At approximately 12:25 p.m., police were notified of a threat received by Halifax West High School, located at 283 Thomas Raddall Drive. School administrators reported receiving a call from a man who said he was on school property with a weapon. The school went into lockdown, and the incident was reported to police.
Police completed a search of the school and found no evidence to support the threat. The school lifted the lockdown at 3:45 p.m..
Police thank staff, students and the community for their patience and cooperation during the search. While police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the school, officers will continue to have a presence there to offer reassurance to students, staff and families.
