RCMP arrest man and woman for cocaine trafficking
The Nova Scotia Organized Crime Unit (NSOC) has arrested a man and woman for drug trafficking.
In June, NSOC, assisted by the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment Street Crime Enforcement Unit and the RCMP Synthetic Drugs and Scenes Unit, began an investigation into cocaine trafficking in the Halifax Regional Municipality.
On October 20, NSOC, with the assistance of the RCMP Community Action Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on Gaston Rd. in Dartmouth. Investigators seized cocaine, cash and other evidence consistent with drug trafficking.
A 34-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, both of Dartmouth, were arrested for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. They were released on conditions and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
“This investigation demonstrates the strength of NSOC’s collaborative approach to disrupting organized crime in Nova Scotia,” says Sgt. Nick Baker of NSOC. “By bringing together local, provincial, and specialized enforcement resources, we were able to identify and target individuals involved in drug trafficking, remove illicit drugs from our communities, and enhance public safety.”
