The speed limit hasn’t changed. But the conditions have

Heavy rain is in the forecast for Nova Scotia this weekend, and wet roads can become dangerous faster than you might think.

One of the biggest risks is hydroplaning. When water builds up between your tires and the road, your tires can lose traction, leaving you with little control of your vehicle.

A few simple adjustments can make a big difference:

✅ Slow down. Reduce your speed to match road and weather conditions, especially on highways.

✅ Leave more space. Wet roads mean longer stopping distances. Give yourself extra room to react.

✅ Be smooth. Avoid sudden braking, sharp turns, and abrupt steering.

✅ Check your tires. Proper inflation and adequate tread help maintain traction.

✅ Turn on your headlights. Use your low beams so other drivers can see you from the front and the back.

And remember, just because the speed limit says you can drive at certain speed doesn’t mean you should.

Slow down. Leave room. Get home safely.
