RCMP seize firearm and ammunition during search warrant execution
The Southwest Nova RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SWN SCEU) seized a firearm and ammunition during a search warrant execution at a residence in Middleton. A man was safely arrested at another location and is charged with firearms- and threats-related offences.
On September 27, Kings District RCMP responded to a report of threats involving the use of firearms. The threats were conveyed over the phone. Investigators identified the person who sent the threats and believed he had access to firearms.
On September 29, Annapolis District RCMP located and safely arrested the man. At the same time, SWN SCEU and other Annapolis District RCMP officers attended a house on Bentley Dr. and executed a search warrant.
During the search, investigators located and seized a rifle as well as rifle and shotgun ammunition.
Shawn Ross Duncan, 39, of Middleton, is charged with eleven offences including Utter Threats (two counts), Careless Use of Firearm (two counts), Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, and Failure to Comply with Probation Order.
Duncan appeared at Kentville Provincial Court on September 29 and was released by the courts on conditions. He is scheduled to return to court on October 28.
